Administration and Dosage: 

Reduction in blood supply to brain: 3 times a day, 1-2 tablets each times, 3 weeks.
Cardiac and peripheral artery diseases: 3 times a day, one tablet each time, 3 weeks.
Vertigo and headaches caused by vascular disorders: one tablet a day, 6 weeks.

Drug interactions: 

This drug has a synergetic effect on Mono Amine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOIs) medicines.

Possible increase in bleeding, if it is taken concurrently with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.

Do not take this drug with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NASADs) concurrently.

Avoid taking this drug with thiazide diuretics (such as hydrochlorothiazide, etc.) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (such as fluoxetine, fluvoxamine and citalopram) concurrently.

Storage: 

Store in a dry place, keep away from direct sunlight and below 25 °C.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Contraindications and precautions: 

When NOT to take it 
•    Children younger than 12 years old,
•    Sensitivity to Ginkgo biloba L.
•    Patients who need urgent surgery (to prevent possible post-operative hemorrhage) and patients with epilepsy.

Side effects 
This drug may cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, tachycardia, allergic reactions and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Large doses can lead to inhibit platelets activity, spontaneous bleeding, decreasing vitamin B6, nephrotoxicity, seizure and coma.

 

Use during pregnancy and lactation: 

NOT to be taken during pregnancy and lactation.

Mechanism of Action: 
Flavonoids are responsible for the pharmacological effects of this medicine. Flavonoids in ginkgo biloba L. neutralize and deactivate oxygen free radicals, increase release of catecholamine and inhibit the activity of Catechol O Methyl Transferase (COMT) and Mono Amine Oxidase (MAO) enzymes. Ginkgolides also have antagonistic effect on Platelets Activating Factor (PAF), inhibit coagulation of blood and decrease the risk of harmful hypoxia in brain tissue in ischemic and embolic strokes.
Active Ingredients and Components : 
Memorex tablet contains 40 mg standardized dry extract of Ginko biloba L. providing 2-4 mg total flavonoids as hyperoside.
