Children between 6-12 years: 1-2 times a day, pour 2.5-7.5 g of Psyllium to a glass of water or juice, stir and drink.
Adults: 1-2 times a day, pour 1 sachet or 10-15 g of Psyllium to a glass of water or juice, stir and drink.
It is better to take this medicine at bed time or in the morning before breakfast. It is recommended to drink extra glasses of water when taking this product.
This product is made from high quality local and imported herbs organically planted and harvested. It has been formulated by Iran Darouk Pharmaceuticals.
Psyllium decreases absorbance of some minerals (such as calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc), vitamin B12, cardiac glycosides and coumarin derivatives.
Concurrent use of Psyllium with lithium salts decreases the plasma concentration of Lithium and prevents absorption of Lithium in the digestive tract. Dosing adjustments may be necessary.
Psyllium may decrease the rate and the amount of Carbamazepine absorption.
Store in a dry place, keep away from direct sunlight and below 25 °C.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Disposal
Do not put into sewer lines. Dispose in the everyday rubbish bin.
When NOT to take it
• Psyllium should not be used in appendicitis or in patients with signs of appendicitis, rectal bleeding with unknown origin, peptic ulcers and any adhesion in digestive tract (or GI obstruction), colic pains, nausea, vomiting, drug hypersensitivity, hypertension and throat problems and difficulty swallowing.
Things you must do
• This medicine interferes with the absorption of other medicines in the two hours following ingestion. So, other medicines should be used at least two hours after taking this product.
Things to be careful of
• This drug should be used under physician’s prescription only in children younger than 6 years old.
• It should be used with caution in people who have restricted sodium intake.
• Drinking one or more glasses of water after taking this medication is essential if you take it with low levels of fluid, causing obstruction of the esophagus or intestine, especially in the elderly. (Drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water is required if you are taking this medication.)
• Consult your doctor if you experience any allergic reaction.
• Because of potential reductions in blood sugar levels caused by psyllium, requirements for insulin or other diabetes drugs in diabetic patients may be reduced. Blood glucose levels should be closely monitored, and dosing adjustments may be necessary.
Side effects
Temporary indigestion and flatulence may be experienced at the beginning of treatment but they will be alleviated by continuing the treatment. Allergic reactions to Psyllium seed have also been reported.
Use of this medicine in pregnancy and lactation is allowed under medical supervision.
