Mechanism of Action:
In traditional medicine, thyme is used as an expectorant, diuretic and anti-flatulent. Honey has long been used in treatment of a variety of diseases. The healing property of honey is due to its antimicrobial activity. Honey is an entirely edible substance, although it seems to be a good environment for the microorganisms growth, when they exposed to honey become destroyed and moreover their remains would be destroyed over time, as honey contains antibiotics and diastase enzyme.
The antitussive and expectorant effects of Thymex Plus are probably due to the volatile oils and honey, which increase ciliary movement and mucous secretion in the respiratory tract. The antitussive effects of honey are attributed to its ability to dilute the secretions of the airways and improve the function of their epithelial cells.
Active Ingredients and Components :
Thymex Plus Syrup is made of standardized extract of the aerial parts of thyme (Thymus vulgaris) and honey.
Each 5ml of the syrup contains about 1.1 mg total phenolic compounds based on thymol and 0.2 g honey.

The extract of the plant also contains tannin, flavonoids, saponin, and bitter compounds. Furthermore, this product contains honey, which has antitussive and expectorant properties.
